Sustainability

Sustainability

At The Friday People, we care deeply for our environment and our community. We are committed to continuously improving our approach to sustainability.

As we start on our sustainability journey, we realise there is so much more to learn and improve on to do our part.

Products and materials

Each of our bags is carefully constructed and designed with quality materials and designed to last. We hope that by creating quality and long-lasting bags which are loved by our customers, we can do our part in minimising the impact of fast fashion on textile waste.

Our 2021 collection (launching September) and future collections will be produced using fabrics spun from recycled PET bottles, reducing this waste from landfills and oceans.

The fabrics used in our bags meet the Standard 100 by Oeko-Tek, the highest standard for testing textile for harmful substances.

Manufacturing

Ensuring our products are manufactured consciously and ethically is important to The Friday People.

We work with our global partners to ensure that all people involved in the manufacturing of The Friday People bags are treated fairly and respectfully along the way, including ensuring that there is no child or slave labour and that our makers are paid fairly.

Conscious packaging

Our bags are mailed to you in a combination of compostable bags and recyclable boxes. We are working with our manufacturers to reduce plastic packaging along the supply chain.

Tree planting and carbon offset

We are proud to partner with Ecologi to reduce our environmental impact.

A critical part of tackling the climate crisis and keeping our temperatures from continuing to rise is to plant trees. Trees are also crucial to preventing ecological collapse.
Ecologi works with tree planting partner The Eden Reforestation Projects to plant millions of trees around the world each month. They are currently planting mangroves in Madagascar.

Ecologi invests in projects that remove more greenhouse gasses than our carbon footprint puts in.

Each month Ecologi picks the best CO2 reduction projects with Gold Standard certification, the highest rated projects which make the most impact possible.
